Ok, we can add coaching basketball to the long list of things I can not do. Because my hubby was sick, I took the girls to practice last night. He has been coaching the team that our older girls are on in the church league. He is doing an amazing job. They have all learned so much and have become more aggressive and confident with each game. I hate to see the season coming to an end.
But, last night was different. My hubby sent me out the door to practice and said I should ask one of the other girls' dad to run practice this time. The only problem with this was that all the parents dropped off their girls at the gym, but none of them came in. Here I was, with a one year old I my hip, realizing it was me or....well me. I know very little about basketball, definitely not enough to coach, but here we were. We spent the next hour playing every game I ever played in grade school with a basketball. You know, "gotch ya" and "pig". These girls loved it. They learned nothing. But, if they win this Saturday's game, I guarantee I will take credit for it.
After all that, I know I will not be asked to coach again any time soon and I am ok with that. I am just going to chalk it up to things I don't know how to do. My mom used to say, "What you don't know won't kill you." Well, I survived last night! We all came home with smiles and funny stories to tell dad.
